About Me:
I am going on 31 and was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata in 2010. I noticed my first circular spot 6-7 months after I went off birth control to try and conceive. I was not sure if the change of hormones helped trigger the autoimmune disease because it is not in my immediate genetic history that we know of. I began putting the foam on the area and after 6-8 weeks had the subcutaneous injections to help stimulate hair growth. I then became pregnant and was no longer able to continue with the injections. Hair grew back and i hadn't noticed any activity with the disease until a few months after my son was born. I began losing a significant amount of hair on the back of my head towards my neck, a good inch up from my original hair line. It was smooth skin and occasionally would develop red bumps that hurt very bad. I suffered with it because I couldn't do anything while I was nursing. Finally I weaned my son when he was 17 months old and started putting the foam back on my spot. I have a scheduled appointment coming up for more injections but an looking into more natural ways of treating the disease. I am tired of feeling alone with my hair loss so I looked online for a place where I can talk to others who suffer from similar diagnoses.
