About Me:
I have had alopecia areata since I was in the second grade. I am now 34 and after having two kids,I lost almost 50% of my hair. I cannot leave the house without a wig or head cover. Growing up, my mother tried several different doctors, dermatologist, pretty much everything a normal Western medicine doc would prescribe, mostly steroid treatments, which I do not recommend because there are many side effects to it and it will only work if you continue the treatments. As soon as you stop the steroids it would just fall back out again. So none of it really worked until Finally we found a nutritionist and chiropractor partnership who put me on a strict diet of no sugar, no red meats, lots of fresh let's vegetables, vitamins and biweekly spine adjustments that would increase the blood flow to my scalp, and 98% of it came back! I would still get a couple of small bald patches underneath my hair that was hardly noticeable and would normally come back after a while, then fall out in small patches and different areas and so on...I had beautiful curly hair that covered most patches. Then I had my 2 children and have gotten older, it is now worse than ever. But I try to stick with my healthy diet and it is finally coming back in most spots although, it is stark white (but at least there is hair dye for that)! I also had all of my silver fillings in my mouth taken out and replaced with white fillings, which seemed to help a lot since silver fillings has Mercury in them and my body has always been very sensitive to metals. I believe that all alopecia patients should have any silver fillings replaced and should follow a very healthy diet. The spinal adjustments from a chiropractor also helps, as well as massaging the scalp to increase bloodflow and many vitamins daily. I suggest kelp, brewers yeast, multi vitamins, biotin, vitamin E, all B vitamins, and even iodine. I also believe that meditation is a huge help to help the hair grow back. I just hope that some Alecia patients can benefit from some of my advice. Alternative medicine beats western medicine by a long shot!
