- I have had alopecia for about 18 years. I live in a very rural area. I am comfortable with my condition now but it was a stuggle at first. I work outside the home and I do wear wigs. Only my family have seen me without my hair. I had my 12 year son, my youngest that died with brain cancer 6 years ago and I got to share my being bald with him, something that was precious for me..
