- Hello, I was first diagnosed with AA in 2007, I was 37 and it was one small dime-sized spot. With cortisone injections, the spot filled in and I thought I would never have to deal with AA again. Well fast forward 7 years, I started noticing large handfulls of hair coming out when I would pull my pony tail out or wash it...but no spots. That was 7 months ago and I now have so many spots I have lost count...they are actually starting to morph together. I have tried the shots again, but they are not working, my derm now wants to do a biopsy to check for scarring alopecia ... which she suspects. I also noticed that I am losing hair in my eyebrow today. I am scared to death!!!
