About Me:
Hi, I'm Cindi!

I just had a BIG MILESTONE birthday this month (April) =). I am currently not working due to health issues & because I'm the primary caregiver/medical & educational advocate/"taxi driver" =) for my youngest son with Special Needs.

I have been married almost 30 years to my best friend! We have 3 grown children, ages 29(dtr.), 25(son) & 21(son). We also have 2 VERY spoiled fur-puppies!:b

My sons' both have a genetic disorder...Tuberous Sclerosis (TS), that I unknowingly passed on to them. I found out that I had it when my youngest son started having seizures at 4 months of age. He is the most affected by TS...but is currently doing very well, and is an amazing young man, considering all he's been through in his life!
Please go to www.tsalliance.org ~ for more info on Tuberous Sclerosis.

I have several health issues, including Tuberous Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn's Disease, GAD & an adrenal disorder.
Some of these illnesses are autoimmune, and can wreak havoc on your body...hair included :(

I started really noticing my hair thinning and subsequent hair loss approximately 5 years ago after I started to let my short hair grow. Now that I look back (especially at pictures), I'm sure my hair was pretty bad for a long time before this, but it was hard to tell when it was short :( I believe my health problems, chronic stress & medications have definitely contributed to my hair loss!

I have been wearing wigs for 3 1/2 years, and am very happy to have "hair" that always looks nice! I can now pick what styles & colors I want to wear to suit my mood or my outfit :) I am a self-proclaimed "wig addict" as well ;)

I'm looking forward to meeting others here with different types of hair loss, form friendships, lend support, and get support, too!

"Hair" & "health issues" are NOT my life, and don't define who I am as a person. Everything that has happened in my life has happened for a reason, and has made me a better, caring, much more compassionate person.
I never take what I have for granted, and thank God everyday for the life He has chosen to give me! <3

Hey Cindi,

It was great to hear from you! And by the way- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I saw in your profile you have one this month-- Aries?

How are you? HOT HOT weather we have been experiencing! Do you enjoy the warmer weather?

Well I am glad I am not the only IT challenged one here. OK I probably should not admit this.... BUT I still have a type writer! HA!- keep hoping they might make a come back- whatta think?

Thanks for the compliment about Bentley. He is a West Highland Terrier (westie)- but don't tell him, he has no clue he is a dog. He is 13 and I've had the little guy since he was 9 weeks old. He really is like my child- and shadow. Always right beside me. Even comes to work with me-- he has to "earn his bones" or so I tell him.

What about you- what kind of dogs do you have?

I live north of the city- so that makes us closer neighbors! Last time I was in the Philadelphia area was when I had to go to the airport.! I don't know much about that city! Which is a shame considering how close it is! When you head to Balt. I will be happy to make a list of great shopping places.... and restaurants. (great places to eat- sure there is in Phil. too!)

No asking about my hair is not to personal! :) And thanks for your comment. It is all mine... and yes I had spots in the pic. I feel very lucky that thus far I have been able to hid them well. I've had a few tough ones....like smack on top of my head- but could move my part enough and shellack it with hairspray! Once I bought the clip in hair extension pieces....know which I mean? Little strips of hair on like a comb like clip?? Anyway- that hurt! I thought it would help make my hair look thicker... but I could feel them constantly so therefore I could not forget about them.... so in my head was a loop playing "I'm wearing hair clips ouch....I wearing hair extension ouch...." So I only wore them for one day. Money down the drain!

talk to you soon!
