I am a mother of a 2 gorgeous children. My daughter, Abigail (14 yrs) was diagnosed with alopecia areata July 2010. It's getting increasingly worse and she has lost about 30% of her hair. She had one load of injections (20 painful ones!!) and is now in the process of trying DCP, we are travelling 2hrs back and forth every week for it.
Ironically I am a hairdresser and I have found it quite hard to come to terms with, as I have spent many years dealing with hair. We are using extensions and fringe pieces which I am having to dye to her unusual shade of strawberry blonde.
Her strength and confidence that she is showing is inspirational and I hope she continues with this attitude through this journey.
