- At 39 I started to see to bald spots at the lower back of my scalp (I was picking at scabs from dry spots) as soon as I seen them my hair started to fall out Fast. I thought it was my daughters hair in the hair brush because she has long (same color) hair. Then I realized it was mine. I panicked went to the doctor and they said it was stress! Another doctor said no it wasn't. This started in May, I bought a real hair piece for $500, but the hair still was falling out. August 8, I shaved it off and my nerves have been 90% better, I could not go 1 more day watching my hair fall out. Now I laugh when I clean the floors or bathtub and know that is my daughters hair. It has been one of the deepest devasting times of my life, and I have realized it is only hair-but it is our identity in women-I said I would rather have it happen to me than my children-since i shaved the stress has almost disappeared. I now get up and actually can put on my hair piece which I wear to work everyday (it just stays on my head with no tape) God Is Good but I also have a full wig which was expensive. My hair is coming in slowly but solid white, I hope this is a sign.
