About Me:
Hi my name is Michelle I am 32 yrs old and I am a mother of two. Haylee is 12 and Mikey is 3. I am a stay at home mom right now. I have alopeica and I have had this since about 2004. I started out with a patch when i was 16 and thought nothing of it. I use to dye my hair a lot so I was thinking it was that. When I was around 20 my neighbor would comment on my hair and tell me oh you are getting a widows peak. My husband joined the army in 2001 and was leaving for boot camp. That was the hardest thing for me than. He soon after was sent to Germany where he than left for Iraq. He was deployed to Iraq for 15 months so i stayed with my mom and family. I started than to lose my hair. It wasn't too bad yet but than we were stationed to Texas. Thats when it was getting worse and i started inquiring on this condition. I was always told it was just stress from the military and all the changes we were going through. I moved to Pa in 2006, my husband was deployed back to Iraq and spent 15 months gone again. While living in Pa it got worse I was still not comfortable wearing wigs yet. It made me feel funny like everyone knew. Well I got a job at a mailing placing and asked if it was ok to come in without a wig and explained I was not comfortable wearing it yet. They said thats fine. Well that next day he told me to go home and put a wig on I was scaring his customers into thinking i had cancer well i left there and never came back. I currently wear wigs anytime i go out anywhere. I have gone thru so many wigs and so many different types. I am completely bald no hair no eyebrows no eyelashes no hair no where all clean. I like it to a certain point I miss going to the hair salon and having that girl day. My husband and family are completely okay with my condition they are very supportive. I sometimes forget about it. I would love to meet some people in my area who is going through this also. Its funny when i ask my three yr old wheres mommy hair he always touches my head and tells me i had a haircut and show me my hair on the wig head. My daughter always tells me if i was bald i wouldn't wear a wig i would just go bald and i say no you would feel funny also. I am the only one in my entire family who has this issue with the hair I don't wish this on anyone I'm miserable sometimes and just wish for my hair back. The only time I actually had hair was in 2010 when i go pregnant with Mikey and I had a little cute boy cut I loved it. When Mikey was 6 weeks my hair fell out and I would find in his diapers or in his hands. I took a shower and I would wash my hair it fell out so fast like it was just sitting on my head never attached. I hope I can make some friends with these similar things it would be nice to talk to someone in my shoes. I thank you all Michelle
