I have been married to a wonderful man for the past 25 years and we have one beautiful daughter. I was diagnosed with alopecia universalis in August 08 after starting to lose my hair in June. I finally shaved the rest in September. I took cortisone injections every six weeks starting in September. I took the last injection on March 20th and believe it or not I had a full head of hair. I thought that I had received the miracle cure until June of 09 and my hair began to fall out again. I have lost almost all of it and do not have hair anywhere on my body except for my eyebrows. I have once again started the cortisone injections and am just waiting to see what happens this time.

That is good news. I hope everything goes well.
Yes, that is my daughter she is almost 20 now. She was the trainer for the football and basketball team in high school. She now is a sophmore at UT Martin in the nursing program. My husband Steve was a sophmore in high school when Mike was a senior in high school. Steve played football and Mike played basketball. I do no really know Mike because he was older than me. Good Luck against Big Sandy this Friday Night.
I am seeing a doctors at three different hospitals in Nashville.
Does your daughter play for West Carroll? The boys head coach there is originally from Camden. They played here last Thrusday Night but I didn't go.
Nice to here from you and keep in touch.
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you!
I'm so glad to hear things are going well...and so glad your experience at Chic was a positive one...some people have different experiences and I'm always afraid if I recomment a place then that person won't have as good of an experience as I had (does that make sense?). Anyway, I'm glad it was a positive one and I'd love to see a pic of your new hair.
Nini, I just wanted to check back with you to see how your appt in Nashville went and if you had any time for wig shopping? Holler back at me if you can. ~Angie
Nini, girlfriend! I am so happy that my book is helping you! When you read it, I want you to feel that you have a girlfriend right there, supporting you and caring about you.
Thank you so much for letting me know!
BIG HUGS!
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I would recommend Dean's Wig Villa in Madison, TN. The lady that owns the shop is named Faye and she has been providing my wigs for me since I was 6 years old. She caters to women and children with medical hair loss especially, and IMHO her prices are a lot better than Chic Wigs or Old Hickory Wigs. Plus, if you have a dermatologist's appt in Nashville on Friday, depending on where you are her shop may be the closest of all three.
Now if you are in West Tennessee, then believe it or not there is a shop in Cordova, TN I would recommend called Great Hair Everyday! The owner's name is Connie Agee, and she sees clients on an appointment basis only. Her website is www.greathaireveryday.org, and she can order just about anything and will even help with processing insurance claims as well. Who is the dermatologist you are coming to Nashville to see? Good luck with the appointment!!!!
I'm glad I could be of some assistance. Up until this year I'd worn a Peggy Knight Vacuum wig for six years so I hadn't done a lot of wig shopping in that time. My most recent purchase was at Chic Boutique (if you look at my pics, the very first pic on top was purchased there) and I really like it. I know how it is to feel like you're on a wild goose chase though, there really aren't that many places to choose from in this area. Again, good luck Nini.
Hey Nini, (neighbor)...I have gotten wigs at 3 different salons in the Nashville area...Chic Boutique near Cool Springs Mall in Franklin, Old Hickory Wigs in Old Hickory and Dean's Wig Villa in Madison. I would recommend all three but would have to lean more toward Chic Botique...Deborah McWhorter is the manager and a very sweet lady...the address is Cool Springs Crossing, 1745 Galleria Blvd., Franklin, TN 37067 phone #615-771-9779. Good luck with the doctor appt. and the wig hunt. ~
