I was put on Accutane by my dermatologist years ago ; he said it was "natural" vitamin A, and that any side effects would be minimal, controllable and temporary, including any impact on my hair, which was very thick, curly and beautiful. A few weeks after stopping Accutane, I suddenly started losing tons of hair and the shedding never stopped. This has spread to my brows and lashes, etc. Since realizing this is permanent and that there is no justice for (the many) Accutane victims like me, I've had a hard time finding peace or imagining a normal future.

I guess the good news is you found alopecia world and are getting some support.
I find connecting with others going through this loss is very helpful.

Are you sure your alopecia is permanent?
Did the medicine cause your hair follicles to die?
In AA the follicle is in a dormant state until the T Cells "move on"
Jeff
It seems so strange that the alopecia started after you stopped taking the medicine.
I don't think I will ever know what precipitated mine.
Sorry this happened to you.
I looked up Accutane but did not see alopecia listed as a side effect.
Jeff
Welcome to Alopecia World.
Why do you Accutane caused your alopecia?
Jeff
