- Ive signed up to Alopecia World for my son. He's 8 years old & has lived with AA for most of his life. His hair first started falling out when he was about 8 months old. It has completely fallen out twice but never completely grown back since the first time it felll out (all hair on head & eyebrows).
He also suffers with pustular psoriasis(??spelling??)which is a rare type of psoriasis. This started when he was 3 weeks old & took the next 18 months to discover just what it was. Finally when he was addmitted to the childrens hospital for 1 week he was diagnsed. He was put on a drip as he was completely covered from head to toe (looking like he had 3rd degree burns over his body).
he has had several treatments for the psoriasis, currently having 8 weekly treatments of infliximab by IV.
We have recently started on a treatment of DCP in acetone for the AA as he has become extremely conscious of the lack of hair on his head (even though I think he looks absolutly perfect) & never leaves the house without a hat. He will only play sports if he can wear his hat and spends the whole day at school (inside & out) with a hat on. He's an identical twin but his brother has not suffered and of the skin or hair problems!!
It would be nice to get some extra support & information from an online community who is going through the same as my son
