Hi. My name is Shelley and my 4 year old daughter was just diagnosed with alopecia last week. My mother also has alopecia, which most people do not know b/c she has always wore a wig and kept as a secret. My mothers alopecia started when she was very young and she never had much of a support system. She didn't tell my sister, brother and I until we were in high school. She has always been very hush hush but she now would love to meet others with alopecia. Of course as a mother I was devastated when the doctor told me that it was alopecia...I was praying it was not this. I am hoping to learn as much about this as I possibly can and hope to meet other mothers with children with this.

Hi Shelley! Sorry to hear about your daughter, but the earlier you catch it the better. Go see an oriental medicine practicer/homeopath/nutritionist who has successfully grown people's hair back. That's what I did and I have a full head of hair with no patches (for awhileee now!). I couldn't tell you what your daughter needs to change in her diet because it's different for everyone (she'll need to get tests for delayed allergies and other things). That's the reason why there's no "cure" for alopecia because there's no blanket remedy. Good luck and keep me posted--and feel free to ask any questions!!
