- I was first diagnosed with Alopecia Areata 9 years ago. It's always swung between being ok and patchy. I've tried all types of treatment from creams to UV treatment to having steroid injections in the head and nothing has worked. Im about to get a wig next week and am very much looking forward to shaving off the rest of my hair. Im sick of trying to cover up the huge bald patches :(
