- Hi~ I've had alopecia since I was 21 years old. I am now 39. Though I have alopecia, it does not define who I am; it is what I have. Many things have been challenging..relationships, work, being out in public...at times I've wanted to stay home so people would not stare at me. Even though it has greatly affected my life, I try to educate people so they understand when appropriate.

Hi Susan you not alone with the depression etc its I think perfectly valid to feel an intense range of emotions while losing you hair. Dealing with it is an individual thing but if you don't deal with it things do seem harder well for Pat and I it is. Feel free to contact either of us anytime getting it out is good.
