I am 34 and have had Alopecia for almost 4 years now. Started out as patches and drastically changed! I cry alot and do not feel good about myself knowing there is nothing I can do. But I somehow find the strength to move forward. It is so hard. I have lost all my hair including eyebrows, eyelashes, body hair, etc. I do have treatments done...the light box, but have been doing it for over a year now and is $40 every time I go. Can't afford it....who can? It does help and have had very little regrowth.

Thank You! I love your hairpiece as well. I am wearing the new alternative to a vacuum and I love it! It's called the Gripper and its the best piece that I have worn in 50 years!
Valerie, I'm sorry you are having a hard time! I know how hard it is. I've had alopecia for 30 years. I want to reassure you that it DOES get better. I don't have much problems with emotions any more. I did have one experience recently with a man who I dated a couple of times and then told him -- and it was as if I had told him I had the plague! A glassy look came into his eyes and he never talked to me again. I wasn't hurt so much as surprised -- I didn't expect that!
As to swimming, there are wigs you can wear while in the water. I would recommend a synthetic. Amy Gibson makes a "swim wig" so you might check that out.
And I think you will like my book -- there are a lot of stories from other women: inspirational, sad, funny -- the whole gamut. You will not feel alone. Let me know!
