- My name is Wendy Cano, I am a junior at Toppenish High School. Yes that is where Gabby Rodriguez (pregnot) studied, and where our principle was recently Nationally named Principle Of the Year. I do not have Alopecia, but my older sister does. She's been dealing with Alopecia and hair loss since she was 3 and is now 19. I am doing my senior project on Alopecia hair loss. And in the month of August, most likely on my birthday, I will shave my head completely bald in support of my sister, Sendy Cano. Lately she has been struggling with Alopecia and bullying even more although she is now an adult. At work, one of her co-workers had pulled her wig. Yes she wears wigs, because she is very insecure about what society will think about her without any hair. See my goal for my senior year and senior project is to help her over come her fear of being rejected by society. I don't want her to feel alone. Her senior project last year was on bullying. She was doing so great and felt so empowered by her project, and the amazing feedback she got back from the community UNTIL her co-worker pulled her wig. Everything went from great, to horrible. (I will post the link on the bottom of this) I want to do an experiment on Alopecia "Survivors", and how they feel when they lost their hair. I am so glad I found this website! I hope I get the chance to hear your story, do not hesitate in talking to me. I am a great listener even if I am just a teen.
