Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
Alopecia since September 2008, still dropping hair (was lucky to have very thick hair), now 85% bald. Need to talk to fellow sufferers.
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older
My hair has slowly and painfully been falling out since September 08. Now 85 % bald. I have almost accepted this but would love to hear from other sufferers as to the "pattern" of my hair loss, could it just be my hair or, once that has finished falling out will my eyelashes/brows follow ... Anyone out there please let me share your experiences.

Hi Glenmor, welcome to the site, I am also new to it and finding my way around. My daughters lost all her head hair over six months and after that her eyebrows thinned to almost nothing along with the hair on her legs and arms but so far she has kept her eyelashes. Everyone is different and its difficult to predict any pattern but I understand only to well why you are anxious to know what you might face in the future. The uncertainty of what might happen in the early days was one of the worst things for me about alopecia but it really did get easier and you can adjust and be happy. I'm sorry you are feeling frightened about what you are experiencing but the good thing is that are many people here who will be very happy to help support you through this. Please feel free to also contact Hayley Burton, my daughter on this site, I know she would love to hear from you. Hope this has been of some help.
love Sheila
