I've had alopecia for the last seven years or so, and AU for the last 3 years. Does not run in the family at all, I had never heard of it before I developed it. I suspect stress at work to have played a part in developing it. I have found that it doesn't affect my quality of life much, and I can accept it and move on. I understand that this would be much harder on girls than guys. But I've found many benefits to not having hair!
