I'm Marti's mom. She's 27 years old and has had Alopecia since she was 5. We have dealt with everything this disease has up its sleeve. Patches missing at five years old, hair coming back, losing it all, keeping the eyebrows and lashes, get it all back, lose it all again, lose eyebrows, lashes, etc. Through it all, the Alopecia Community has been our saving grace. Our first NAAF conference was when she was 12 and she's been going back every year since then. She's grown up with her AA friends and now co-facilitates the support group in Denver. The parents I've met and "grown up with" are some of the best friends I have in this world.
Currently I run a poverty eradication program in Uganda called BeadforLife. I miss Marti but I know she is well taken care of by her Alopecia Family.
Hello and welcome, Maggie!
I know, this is a great community. When I got my first bald spot there was no support to speak of (about 35 years ago).
