- I am an African American women. I am a teacher who is highly stressful in her job due to school board and state mandates. However, I love to teach children.
I was diagnosed with alopecia in June. I was getting injectionsevery six weeks for the past three months. I was treated with anti-biotics, Clobetasol Propionate Topical Solution, and Nioxin shampoo and conditioner once a week. I stopped taking the anti-biotics after two weeks because it caused severe abdominal pain. It was my last visit to the doctor when I found out that my scalp had been inflammed. My doctor was satisfied that it was no longer inflammed so I did not get anymore injections and will visit again in six months. This was October 18th. Since then my hair seemed to falling out at a more rapid rate. I am ignorant to this new situation. I feel that my doctor did not communicate enough information to me. Inspite of all of my questions. My problem was I really did not know enough about my condition until today after finding sites that dealt directly with it. What a wonderful find. I have suffered some mild depression for the past five months. I hope I can find some solace with this group.
