DESCRIPTION:The West Texas Tortoise & Hair 5K & 1.5 Mile Run/Walk is a
  fund raising event in which 100% of the proceeds will go towards find
 ing a treatment for Alopecia Areata. This is a poorly understood disea
 se which affects over 5 million Americans. It occurs in both sexes and
  all races but children are most commonly affected. Currently, there i
 s no cure.\n\nThe 5K Run/Walk will be held along the Historical Fort S
 tockton Tour beginning at the Fort Stockton Visitors Center, detour th
 rough Rooney Park, continue around the Historical Fort Stockton and fi
 nish at the Comanche Springs Swimming Pool. Individual awards will be 
 awarded to the first male and female racers in their age group in this
  run/walk.\n\nParticipants of the 1.5 Mile Run/Walk will not be eligib
 le for individual awards but will still be eligible for team prizes (e
 xcluding fastest team). This run/walk will begin at the Fort Stockton 
 Visitors Center as well, continue along the Historical Tour, detour th
 rough Rooney Park, and finish at the Comanche Springs Swimming Pool. F
 or younger children, 5 and under, bikes are welcome.\n\nIndividuals wi
 th Alopecia are encouraged to participate. We are looking to even assi
