I have received a lot of interest from others on here in my involvement with the Xeljanz trials at Yale.

I thought it would be nice for everyone if I documented my progress on here.

Xeljanz is a Jak3 inhibitor and is believed to work with alopecia by turning off the distress signal relayed by the hair follicle to the attacking immune system which is the cause of the hairs falling out. Xeljanz comes in a strength of 5mg per pill and a full box contains 60 tablets. The recommended dosage for arthritis is 1 tablet in the morning and another in the evening each day.

The trial is set in a series of stages and there are requirements before participating. These include monthly visits and blood tests every 2 weeks. Dr Brett King is absolutely fantastic and is an inspiration to me. His positivity and enthusiasm gives me the much needed hope I have craved for over a decade. I have been put on a low dose to start with which is 1 tablet every other day. My dosage has now been increased to 1 tablet every day and next month it could be increased to 2 tablets per day depending on the results.

I have completed my first month and have already noticed my alopecia has stabilised . I have not lost any existing hairs. In addition to this I have seen little hairs growing in my chest area as well as eyebrows. Fingers crossed! To date, I have experienced no side effects.

I would go to a different dermatologist. if you post where you are from I am sure someone on this board would be able to share a name. Xeljanz is not a cure since you will have to take it for ever just like a heart medication may need to be taken for ever but won't fix an issue with your heart. As the other person said, that was a stupid response from the Dr.

It continues to help my son who is now 20. It is not a guarantee, but it has helped many.

Anyone understand the xeljanz artical published 1-27-2021. Something about xeljanz missing its end date. Artical said it may lead to FDA pulling it from the market.

I'm very worried about this. Can everyone ask their derms abt this news.. please Google the below I couldn't copy the actual link

Pfizer's Xeljanz fails RA safety study, making a tough rivalry with AbbVie's Rinvoq even tougher

Pfizer's Xeljanz fails to meet co-primary endpoint in rheumatoid arthritis study

It’s an RA study, while concerning, RA have risk factors we don’t, in addition Jaks inhibitors are now finding a place, albeit small, in treating severe covid, so    that could help motivate continued production.  Hopefully generic producers will continue as their is clearly a market out there for it, it just may have to move under the table - which is unfortunate... it could also make it cheaper - a bit like peptides- they aren’t FDA approved either but people use them release of the associated risks....

Thank you. I appreciate your response. I believe Jak inhibitors have also improved my hypothyroidism.

Hell I have a crappy dishoved beard but it's the most hare I have had sense I was 5. I am 49 today....... thin

This stuff can change live for kids or in milder  situations.

Sad, but if strangers didn't think I was dieing of Cancer they were calling me a Nazi.

Thanks again for the reply. Sorry for ending on such a heavy comment.

I am glad kids have a possible treatment. It could be amazing!

So you don't think it going to pulled out right? This really scares me and I'm afraid it may prolong even worse prevent the jak inhibitors from being fda approved for alopecia..

Well I can’t say 100%, that said it could be BUT I think there is still a market, even if FDA does pull the pin. It might become something that isn’t necessarily prescribed anymore - just like some peptides these days, basically the user can purchase them but you take the risk of consuming a non-fda approved product. I don’t think the generic producers would stop making it if enough people are buying it , and it may become cheaper to purchase as it is no longer the “it” medicine....the study was on RA, and while that is its main user, it has many uses outside of that. The fact baricitinib is being used with some success to reduce mortality in covid makes me feel it won’t totally disappear- just be repurposed to suit different users.

hello frida i'm really scared so you think pfizer ctp 543 and pf will stop clinical trials and jaks inhibitors will be taken off the market? and ruxolotinib?

I'm worried about what Kevin is worried too

hi frida you are still on 20 mg of xeljanz your blood test is still good?
