Thanks, YoKasta in Nashville. I think I'm going to have to venture to the big city of Knoxville to go to Fresh Market. I like to know what works with people who have similar allergies.

Hey Suzy,

The two best fragrance-free and preservative-free sunscreens on the market right now are Aveeno and Neutrogena -- personally, I like the Aveeno best, even if it costs a little more, because I can even use that on my face, which is really prone to breaking out. I used it on my head all summer last summer, and it was phenomenal! I always use the SPF 50 -- but I've also found that Coppertone Water Babies Sunscreen works just as well too and doesn't cost as much -- it's especially formulated for infants and toddlers, who have extremely delicate skin -- and not quite as expensive as the Aveeno. Try them all and see what works for you.

If any of those don't work for you either, you may want to locate either a Whole Foods Market, a Trader Joe's or a Fresh Market and see if they have anything -- they're all really well-known organic grocery stores and usually have really great products. Let me know what you find out.

hi dear Jamie ,, i think there is big connection between alopecia and allergy.. or how to say it this two of kind in same group of diseses -autoimune. I have allergy too but not so strong like yours,, as i saw many people here on this site have same problems ..so it's must be some connection .. and i assume with food too , many of us with allergy and alopecia have problems with food intolerance as well or with celiac d. do u have anything of this?

Thanks, Pam, for the links. I'm definitely going to check out the kinesys since I have kids who'll go for the spray sunscreen. I've looked into the bare minerals - - not sure if it's for me. I do use mineral cosmetics and have had success with that. Thanks again.
Any other suggestions. What sunscreens or other beauty care products, like lotions, do ya'll use?

Hey...I have always had crazy allergies, and I wonder if there is a relationship between that and the AA. I have had a whole slew of them crop up lately since my hair fell out, nose hair gone...you know the drill. I am really allergic to Cedar, Sandalwood, and Balsam. If I even smell it, I go into Anaphylactic shock and off to the hospital for a week. I've been on a ventilator twice and had a heart attack once. Crazy...I'm much more diligent about it now and have been lucky with no major incidents in the last year or so. Not much you can do but take meds, nasal spray, and carry around tissues. And pray of course!

hi all
im allergic to anything that tastes good, smells good and is fun to do, plus all the nasty stuff dust, pollen, mold etc etc. have been this way for years and years and only lost my hair a year ago so im pretty sure the two are not related. the bothersom part of allergy/alopecia is the extra congestion from not having nose hair to stop dust etc and the very very itchy eyes from all the crap that lands in them now. i dont take any meds for allergies cause none ever worked. i just know what not to eat/drink/do or at the very least know the consequences if i do.

I am the one in the middle. I have allergies, dogs, cats,rabbits, ragweed, pollen, grass, dust, etc. When I started doing the allergy shots, my hair started shedding and I though no big deal. But when I got to the high dose allergy shot, I had a patch of hair missing. The allergist said the shots have nothing to do with the alopecia, but it is a coincidence that my hair started falling out the same time I started the shots. I have stopped the shots for 2 weeks now and I still have hair falling out! Hopefully it slows down.
