Been thinking of slowly going vegan but not sure I'm disciplined enough. Still love my yoghurt and cottage cheese too much I think.

Attended a "stop live animals export" last Sunday mostly attended by non meat eaters of various kinds. My husband was the speaker for The Greens party as their local candidate. He gave a great presentation. The way animals are treated is barbaric!

I everyone, I'm a pescetarian...I eat some fish/prawns now and then but mostly not. Gradually phasing them out too. I also eat dairy and eggs. Not eaten cow, pig, sheep or chicken or any other four legged animal for a good many years, probably 30 odd years now. My hb and I are like ying and yang, I eat vegies, he eats mostly meat lol. Just as well he cooks his own food most of the time!

Hi, I am new to alopecia world in general and I am so happy to have found this group. Not only is it hard to be the only one you know that has AA, but the only vegan.... now that is one BIG elephant in the room. I love how we as vegan/vegetarians are embraced with "What do you eat?" or "Where do you get your protein?" oh and another favorite of mine is the hypothetical scenario, "If you were on a deserted island and there was nothing else to eat but animals, what would you do?" yeah, like the latter is likely at all. Anyways, I wanted to share with all of you how I became vegan, and it is simple, I listened to the podcast series from Colleen Patrick-Goudreau of Compassionate Cooks called "Vegetarian Food For Thought" it is free and I found it on itunes, but i think they are also available on her website. She is really encouraging and has a lot of valuable knowledge to share. I hope you all can get a chance to check it out, and if you do, please let me know what you think.

Does anyone follow a specific kind of plan to ensure they are getting complete range of vitamins & minerals and the right amount of protein etc? Just curious as to how everyone else broaches this aspect.

My reasons for no longer eating meat originally centred around the fact that I actually do not like the texture of meat, cannot stand the bits you get in it etc... then latterly I have started to add to that with animal cruelty concerns.

Check out vegweb.com or allrecipes.com. It is easy to use your old recipes a nd just leave out the animal. I have been vegetarian 7 years and love to eat my greens, beans, and fruit!

I went vege 6 years ago after having to take care of the cutest, naughtiest little lamb while I was staying with family friends. fortunately, all my favourite foods are things like raspberry souffle and choc mousse. :P my sweet tooth should have a cavity :P

Anyone got any recipes to share that don't have onions in? I am allergic to them unfortunately.
