Welcome Patti! I think it's so great that you're joining to learn more and be a huge support for your granddaughter. I am just going through the disease, but if I had it at a younger age I know it would have been nice if I was able to turn to my family for support and have them actually have an idea of what the disease is. Hope you find the information you need, the world needs more people like you.

I live about an hour and a half north on 81 of Syracuse in Clayton, NY which is funny that you live in Clayton, NC. What I said was true, my family for the most part doesn't understand the disease or make an effort to, so your granddaughter is very lucky.

I live in town, so not exactly right on the river, but my family owns cottages on the River that we rent out to people for the summer and so my family gets to stay in it every 3rd week (it's split between my father and his two brothers and their family).

My parents are supportive, but they don't know really how to act around me. A lot of times my mother gets upset more than I am and my dad never even mentions it, which I guess is good because I'd just like life to be normal.

Acupuncture hasn't done anything yet for the alopecia. It does help with stress, relaxation and has given me more energy. I just like the fact that she's treating my whole body and not just the symptoms that show. I just started another treatment through my acupuncturist today and it's a little painful but she says it has the best chance of working. I wouldn't recommend acupuncture for a young child but I'll keep you posted about any results.

Thank you for the words of encouragment, I wish the best for you and your granddaughter
