Alopecia Story: Full head of hair until Nov 2007 and was enjoying growing it out for the first time in 25 years. It became thin and turned very white and started to fall out in Jan 2008 with circles that started dime size and increased to 1/2 dollar size. Then major shed in the shower, on the pillowcase, and all over my clothes. Learned I had alopecia areata from my family practice doc and the dermatologist. Started various treatments but didn't see any improvement for a while. More hair gone so I put on scarves and hats. Lost all the eyelashes on my left eye - lots at first and then down to four on the bottom, then two, then one, then all gone. Then I fractured my patella in May 2008 and remarkably, the regrowth started amid the recovery of the knee. The top areas of loss seem to be filling in. Still no eyelashes on left eye and no hair on the sides above my ears. Stopped covering my hair June 25, 2008! And now in October 2008 I'm walking and almost have a full head of hair back. Still no left eyelashes and bald above my right ear but hair above is mostly covering that. This has been an interesting year of turning 50! Since then have been through a lot of hair loss followed by some regrowth.
Hey Joanne! Welcome! I'm glad you joined. I am looking forward to meeting you in person some day. I hope that all goes well with your recovery. Take care, and God bless
Sarah :-)

Hey Joanne, well I moved here to work at ASU. I came with my boyfriend. We were lucky enough to both find a job on campus. We didnt specifically search in any one place but we ended up here!! and I have to say I am enjoying it alot..- I don't miss the rain too much ;). I am from Limerick, where have you visited?
I see that you are a trader joes fan as well!!! I just love that place. I have even sent home their cool carrier bags to my mum!! ha ha.
I can't imagine how difficult it must be to have a broken patella!! ouch...
