About Me:
When I was three I lost ALL my hair...but my parents didnt associate the hair loss with alopecia, they thought I had injested something, neverless my hair grew back. Then In June 2008 I found a bald spot, I went to the doctor and I was told I have AA, it was quite a shock because I felt something was wrong with me, i decided to keep my chin up and get some treatment, not but a month later I found out I was expecting, I thought again it was an answer to my prayers...i would grow my hair back fast because of the baby....i was wrong. I am loosing more and more everyday...and its hard to be confident when you hate your hair.

**UPDATE 02/15/10 **
My hair has begun growing back...quite a crazy thing, I am still always expecting it to turn and start falling out again. I am thankful. On a sad note I have noticed within the past couple weeks my 5 year old daughter is showing signs of having this condition as well. We are waiting on the call from the specialist so we can move foward with treatment. She is such a trooper....the first thing she said to me when we left the doctors office was " I cant wait to grow my hair back so I can share it with the kids who are sick and dont have hair" - We have never cut her hair, and until a few weeks ago it was long, curly and thick. We have talked about donating some to Locks of love when it got long enough...she has been so excited to do it....

    Hi May,
I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It might make you feel better. Check it out on my page -- and let me know how else I can help.

Hey! Ohhhhh I know where you are coming from..... My derm appointment is Dec 10th which is a staggering 7 months from when I was diagnosed.....When I was diagnosed I just had a little patch at the bottom of my head on the left side at the back. No my head looks like yours. The back is identical to yours. The side is about the size of a grapefruit the bald spot..... I too am sooooooooo frsutrated. What is the point indeed.....I am on a mad dash to get a wig (have already bought 4 which I hate)........It is sooooo awful...Right now this one wig shop is giving me the run around. I had asked if they carry Rene of Paris wigs and she said flat out no. I asked if there were any that would be like the ones I would like. Get this she told me to email her the pictures and she would see rather than booking an appointment. I had been in to them in May and tried a bunch of wigs and didn't like them. It seems that bringing in wigs for people to try on is an inconvenience to them.. Anyways I sent the email and have waited a week. I even called twice. Today I called and asked if the owner was blowing me off and that I wasn't too pleased. Still no phone call. Monday I will ring their necks. If this doesnt' work out then I have to go out of town to get a wig.... I am scared to order online....

Anyways wanted you to know I share your struggles and I am sure I will share your triumphs....By the way congrats on PUPPY!!! Animals are just so wonderful for perking up your moods unless they are my cats who are constantly getting into everything! LOL

    Hey May,

Yeah i know most of the other people i know their hair grew back during pregnancy so strange. I never had and hair problems in my life until my 3rd pregnancy with my little boy. Do you have any other Auto Immune Diseases? I have Hashimoto's Disease my doc told me that when pregnant with a boy it's harder on your body when you have Hashimoto.
But please don't give your hair another thought your beautiful with and I'm sure without hair. I've also heard that often your hair will return. Mine did but it's falling out again Oh well I just got a new wig and I get a ton of comments on how pretty my hair is even better then my own.

    keep in touch

thanks so much for the warm welcome! yes if there's one thing this disease forces us to be, it's strong. i was just diagnosed last month so i'm not exactly there yet haha but for now my trick is to just focus really hard on everything else and try not to obsess over my hair too much. the first few weeks i couldnt stop looking at my bald patch - it was almost surreal. but now... SOMETIMES i forget it's even there - yay! anyway you and your family are beautiful!

    take care,
    <3 lia

Yes, they're mine! And thanks a whole lot, by the way! I really do want to be a photographer, I just have to figure out how to do it! I'm really glad you liked them, you have no idea how happy that makes me! I thought it was just my friends being nice to me, but I'm glad other people look at my pictures and like them! Thanks!
