I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata when I was 18 months old. I suffered the "spotty-baldness" up until 2000 when I went totally bald, I was a freshmen in High School. I used to go to a hair and skin specialist when I was younger but stopped when I was around age 12. The doctor pretty much said there was no other medications to try and we should just see what happens. I am now 25 and I am dealing with being a bald woman the best I can. I am a stay at home mommy to a beautiful 1 year old daughter. I have been happily married to my wonderful husband for 5 years now. Life is pretty wonderful right now, although I deal with the occasional ups and downs that I think everyone with this disease has.
