I'm 27 and have just developed Alopecia Universalis. It first started in June 2008, so it's been a wild ride to say the least. I live in Australia, unfortunately not surrounded by beaches. I'm in Canberra, the Australian Capital, where I'm studying at university looking at navigation in ants...I get the feeling I may never have a real job, but maybe that's for the best...
Hi Sam, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alopecia World. I have been living with Alopecia Areata since 1991 and know full well the struggle it can be. I look forward to getting to know you. Cheryl, Co-founder
I happy to hear you have such a great support system.
The 1st six months of Alopecia were the hardest for me. I had know idea what was happening. Losing the eyebrows is a big deal. I actually found a tattoo artist who did a great job giving them back to me.
The turning point for me was Alopecia World and then the NAAF Confrence this past June. I got to meet real people experiencing the same thing as me. This is how I came to acceptance.
I hope you continue to accept this thing called Alopecia.
Know we are all here for one another.
My New Year is going great other than the hives in the back of my neck i am experiencing tonight.
I am very happy with my tattood eyebrows. They look very natural. I've been planning to post new pics to share. Just so little time. Grrrrr
Anyway, my tattoo artist is Athena at www.athena@unionsquare.com
I think you should go for the tattoos. Just make sure you get the right person to do them.
Mine are pretty light and exfolliate over time so I usually go in for a touch up every 3 months.
SF is a great place to live with very mild weather and tons of stuff to do.
Enjoy your time with you GF does she travel alot?
Your response to Reality is the perspective we all should have regardless... focusing on the future with the intent of losing something we never had just sets a downward cycle. Thanks for your recent response it's what I was trying to express, yours was more eloquent.
Hey, real job or not, are you enjoying yourself? My husband and I have the best memories of our time in graduate school. By the way what are real jobs? From your picture, sitting having a beer overlooking the ocean looks like paradise... enjoy.
