I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties. In Canada most insurance companies don't cover wigs and yes, they are expensive. Are you aware of the Ascot Fund the NAAF has? Most places only have wig funds for kids but they include adults too. Many places online are okay to buy wigs from, just make sure they have a good return or exchange policy before you sign up incase you don't like it when it comes. The NAAF also has information you can request your doctor to get about mental health and alopecia. Most doctors don't understand the full impact that alopecia can have on ones life. If there is an alopecia support group close to where you live you may find that beneficial as well to know that you are not alone and learn how to cope with it better. hi Natalie - I was looking for other NZers and found you. I am 38 and live in Auckland too. I have had AU for 8 years now, so really understand what you are going through at losing your hair when you are older.I have never actually met anyone with AU, and only found this site by accident, but it is nice to see other people who look like we do. you look great in a wig. Your photo with no hair is so similar to my head. I have been shaving it off on the top as I am mostly bald on the back of my head It certainly helps to chat with others who have alopecia. I am from Christchurch and have only had alopecia for 3 months

Hello from another New Zealander :) Am in Palmerston North a way away from you. Have had Alopecia for a couple of years. Sometimes I'm okay with it but other times it's a struggle - especially now my eyebrows seem to be disappearing too!
