About Me:
Hi, I'm Cindi!

I just had a BIG MILESTONE birthday this month (April) =). I am currently not working due to health issues & because I'm the primary caregiver/medical & educational advocate/"taxi driver" =) for my youngest son with Special Needs.

I have been married almost 30 years to my best friend! We have 3 grown children, ages 29(dtr.), 25(son) & 21(son). We also have 2 VERY spoiled fur-puppies!:b

My sons' both have a genetic disorder...Tuberous Sclerosis (TS), that I unknowingly passed on to them. I found out that I had it when my youngest son started having seizures at 4 months of age. He is the most affected by TS...but is currently doing very well, and is an amazing young man, considering all he's been through in his life!
Please go to www.tsalliance.org ~ for more info on Tuberous Sclerosis.

I have several health issues, including Tuberous Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn's Disease, GAD & an adrenal disorder.
Some of these illnesses are autoimmune, and can wreak havoc on your body...hair included :(

I started really noticing my hair thinning and subsequent hair loss approximately 5 years ago after I started to let my short hair grow. Now that I look back (especially at pictures), I'm sure my hair was pretty bad for a long time before this, but it was hard to tell when it was short :( I believe my health problems, chronic stress & medications have definitely contributed to my hair loss!

I have been wearing wigs for 3 1/2 years, and am very happy to have "hair" that always looks nice! I can now pick what styles & colors I want to wear to suit my mood or my outfit :) I am a self-proclaimed "wig addict" as well ;)

I'm looking forward to meeting others here with different types of hair loss, form friendships, lend support, and get support, too!

"Hair" & "health issues" are NOT my life, and don't define who I am as a person. Everything that has happened in my life has happened for a reason, and has made me a better, caring, much more compassionate person.
I never take what I have for granted, and thank God everyday for the life He has chosen to give me! <3
