My name is Johnny and I was diagnosed with Alopecia when I was 11 years old. Admittedly, it was a very traumatic experience, but I'm happy with the person I became because of it, I truly believe it made me a better person. I have not met many people in my life who also have Alopecia, maybe about 10 or so. This has made me feel very alone in the world in regard to living with Alopecia. I've done many things in my life and had many adventures, from being a punk rock musician in Texas to a truck driver on the gas fields of Wyoming.I'm a university student now, I have earned a degree in broadcasting and am now pursuing a degree in political science. Living with Alopecia forced me to let go of my fear, I know I would not have had the courage to live the life I have lived without it. One thing that is kind of funny is that I have never really bothered to learn much about Alopecia. I never really cared why, it just is and it is me.
Hi Johnny, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alopecia World. I have been living with Alopecia Areata since 1991 and know full well the struggle it can be. I look forward to getting to know you. Cheryl, Co-founder
Welcome to Alopecia World.
I've only had alopecia for a year and a 1/2.
I've met sp mamy great people in real life since my diagnosis.
I attended my first NAAF Confrence this year. It was awesome. I also got to meet several members from this site.
It was a real treat for me.
See you in Houston in June?
hey johnny and welcome to the site, i am new to the alopecia thing and this site has helped me in so many ways, the coolest people in the world on on this site. it is very hard for me, but i have gotten a ton of help from these very courageous folks.

i have always been a pretty positive person and never thought much about my appearance but this stuff really did a # on me for a minute. then i found out that i am not alone and there was great comfort in that. i ve pretty much evened out now and only think about it when i see people that that not seen me since the hair fell out and then i have to explain it all. but, at least it is not even the 20th thing i think about when i get up so thats much improvement.
Oh thats cool. I work for a smaller broadcasting company we have 6 stations. I'm usually on our Mix Station KGMX but for budget my shiftwas cut but i should be back on the the air soon. Im the mena time im working in the promotions dept which is a ton of fun. I'm a music nerd so radio was a natural place for me to be.
Thats cool. I didnt get in it to be on air. I am a marketing major so i started in promotions and had to fill in one day and never stopped. Im hoping to finsh my degree and move onto sports marketing. I thnk it is funny most people in radio kinda fell into it.
thanks you've got some great tuens as well - ahhh reagan youth gotta love them - my favorite has to be "what will the neighbors think"- my true heart belongs to the misfits - original line up LOL i hate the new misfits :)except micheal graves worked on stuff for the west memphis three and i support that so i guess i want throw up in my mouth if i ever see him again LOL
ok here's my favs - misfits - danzig solo stuff- dead k's for certain - the cramps - pantera - mercyful fate ( stop laughing) - but i ahve rally eclectic taste now - i even like amy winehouse LOL and the cocorosie i liek anything that has some depth to it - some surprises in it
woah you drove a truck was it awesome? any crazy truck stop stories- sorry its the jt leroy books ive read LOL - sis you ever read her stuff? she is mondo bizarro
well i might forget about it but sooner or later we will take a BIG step up to the the president and say "Sir, we demand a cure that will relive us of this" he'll think about it and then if he agrees he will tell the national scientists to find the great cure that will give us hair back and that it won't mutate us or something like that( leave mine something that will give me powers)and then we will be running around having all this fun and then we fall on our backs and say YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!WE ARE NOW THE PWGTHBS(people who got their hair back society) THE END
