About Me:
Hi , my name is Casee. I was recently diagnosed with alopecia areata the first of May 2009. I discovered a couple bald patches that has now progressed to a lot of bald patches through out my scalp....I have lost quite a bit of hair since May...and still losing.....at the time I discovered my first patch I had never heard of alopecia areata and I was scared to death. I have come to terms with it now, now its sorta of like a waiting game to see how much more I will lose. I still can cover most of it up if I keep my hair completely pulled back all the time...but that is getting annoying, so I don't know what I'm going to do yet...just like to have some friends to share experiences with....

    Hi Casee,
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has a lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf."
Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.

I wanted to leave a message for you about that support group. It's very helpful to attend at least one meeting if you can make it over to Nahville. Denise Ruiz is the leader, her # is 615-758-9127.

I don't have any fine blondish hairs, but I know that other people write about that here. I'm not sure whether it means the "real" hair is coming back or not. Please post this question to your original post so more people can respond.

Hi yes I'm fighting that problem right now on the left side of my head above my ears? I know that others on AW have writen that they experience this also and then it grows and turns their true color? Time will tell but as far as what is a normal pattern it is.
