About Me:
Kia Ora
I'm a very strong hearted and minded woman. I come from a family of 3 sisters and mother. I've lived with my grandparents most of my childhood and lost my grandmother when I was 5 years old, just before my younger sister was born. To this day I still miss her and ask for her guideness every day. My grandfather has been the most comforting father in the world. He is my father figure...

I grew up in South Auckland Otara. Went to Mayfield Primary school, Ferguson Intermediate and Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate where my mother was a teacher and Assistant Principal. I'm now at AUT studying as a full time student completing a Bachelor of Business majoring in Human Resource Mangement. I work part time in the IT industry and just love to make my own money. I've been with my long loved boyfriend Ross for over 3 years and still holding strong. I love to play all kinds of sports like netball, tennis, rugby, touch, basketball, tag and more. I enjoy shopping, movies, chatting, You Tube, clubbing (socializer), dinning out, reading, traveling and much more. My main embition in life is to pursue the career that God intended me to have with all falts and glamour.
I want to share my success with family, friends and my own family in the near future.

Hi Stacey- just saw your discussion on the NZ page and thought i would write. I live in Greenlane and so not far and if you would like to chat I am certainly around. I have had AU for 8 years now, was 30 when I got it. I know what you mean about wigs and the choice but you dont need to make a choice really - you an have the best of both worlds, I do. A wig for when you are out and about - in the office, AUT etc and when you feel comfortable just be you - no hair or scarf etc. I certainly do both. You can actually get a synthetic wig straight away. In NZ you get a subsidy of $2500 (from memory) every 10 years for diagnosed alopecia people. A good synethic wig costs around $250-300 (there are cheaper options probably but this is what I had). If you choose to go for a natural hair wig, and custom made that is a lot more expensive around $2500 and takes about 3-4 months to make. I first got a synthetic wig when my hair feel out and I couldnt hide it anymore with scarves and hats, and had these for around 5 years. It was a good first option for me because I didn't have to pay anything and got setup straight away. I have moved to a silcone vacuum wig just in the last few years. I went to Haircreations in Newton, just of Symonds Street in town for my synthetic wigs. They were great and really helped me out. Let me know if you want to get in touch. I really don't mind. Stay positive. Kath

hi there great to hear from you. In answer to your questions, as I was 30 when my hair feel out I was well into my career by then. I have always worked for large companies and meet with lots of people and so I think that is why I have my "wig" look for the office. In fact noone that I work with even knows that I have a wig as I have always been like this in this job. All my friends know though and I normally go without the wig in the weekend. It is strange I know but I just want to concentrate on my job at work and not have to face the looks and explanation in a work environment. Everyone is different though and looking at people on this site some are far braver than I am with going out and about without an hair. I admire them. You to will develop your own style and the way that you want to be seen. In my experience people soon accept you for whoever you are. It does take a while to get used to the whole thing, but you will develop your life around it and I am sure that it will make you a stronger person. keep smiling. kath
