Funny attitude- Yeah!- you are out of the closet!! You certainly are not alone- and it does help to know that other people do understand. My family and friends (who know) are so wonderful and supportive but they really just do not get the emotional trauma of it all.
When my spots re-grow hair the hair tends to grow in curly. Recently one of my friends was looking at my inch long curl and said "it's so cute you should shave your head and see if it all grows in curly"---- I said "you first"....could have heard a pin drop! HA HA- think she got the point. :) hee hee.
Are you currently undergoing any type of treatment? It is my understanding that although AA is unpredictable later onset tends to have better outcomes. I certainly hope that is the case for you. :) Has your doc checked hormone/thyroid levels?
I'm so happy things are back to "normal" with your sister. However I was so hoping she would apologize b.c you deserve one. I have to ask: Are you "festering" a little bit about her behavior or not being able to talk to her about AA? I hope not! but If so- get it out girl or resentment will build and unravel the relationship. If you want to vent or talk about it- I'm here! :)
Hi Brenda..I´m writing from Argentina...I have telogen effluvio cause of stressand medication..as you are a hairdresser I want to ask you if I wear a wig the hair goes on growing normally...and if it´s comfortable a wig evry day. Thanks.
Thanks Brenda..hearing from you there is a lighjt. I bought a natural hair wig with stripes but it hurts me a bit. What type is yours? How many hours do yiu wear it?
Thanks Brenda...!!You are very sweet!! I´m from Argentina...I still have little hair but I used to have a lot of thick brown hair. My derm told me that it´s only stress but my hair goes on falling out..In order not to touch it , I don´t dye it.Sometimes I don´know how to handle this and face the society..I don´t want to be depressed, I´m only 38 years old.
Always happy to hear from you. Good you are so busy! (I guess- good for business but bad for stress!) You are funny- calling yourself Mrs. Clean! I do imagine that by joking about it makes your clients feel more comfortable. But how are you really- how are you dealing? Is it any better?- I think with time it gets a little better but then there is always a day or situation that come up and it's all down hill- ! Guess that isn't really specific to AA, is it? Life can do that sometimes- oh well as long as the good days out weigh the bad ones by far! it works.
Glad to hear you are doing ok! I am sure those Chicago hot days are tough in a wig. I think I've seen something online that helps with sweating- do you know what I am referring to? IF not- let me know and I'll surf around and find them again.
Great question- I have no clue why some stay AA and others jump to AU. Just goes with all the unpredictability of this condition. And from reading on this site there seems to be no "normal" progression or much to help predict what will happen. I think it is that complete lack of control that makes it so scary. After all these year for me just having AA I still worry almost every day I blow dry my hair about the "what if's" I have noticed that my spots are coming quicker than ever before- and the doc has no answer to what if anything it means. Other than more anxiety! ha! ha. But all and all with time it's gotten a little easier not to mention the older I get the more I realize and see how many worse things there are to deal with!
Thanks a million!! The thing that my white hairs are quite difficult...the semi permanent doesn´t stay in my hair..yes I agree with you,Brenda,I tried not to touch my hair so much because of the falling. Two more questions...can
a person bear a wig in Summer? Did people know about your wig? I´m a very insecure and sensitive person and I dont want to tell people my problem and face awful situations because of stupid people.
OMG!! Talk about stress overload! I can't imagine how horrible that was to find your ex dead! Clear to see your trigger. I am so very sorry you had to go through that!! It's amazing what stress does to our bodies....
Hope you are doing OK. You seem to have such a great sense of humor-- I'm sure that plays a huge part in pulling you through it all!! :)
Thanks for your comments. Coming to terms with our hair loss in the beginnning is definitely the hardest bit is'nt it. I'll definitely look into the Paula Young wigs - they sound great. My wig in the photo is a lovely chestnut colour and I also have a shorter one which is called 'dark blonde with hazel highlights' so people definitely know its not mine. I think wigs look 'wiggy' on me and since the obviously choice for me was a grey one (my own hair had always been very dark brown but had developed into 'pepper and salt' prior to going) I thought I'd try something different. Shame I can't get a new face to go with them (lol) Keep in touch, Diana x
Thanx for that - I've already looked at the Paula Young wigs web site, they look great. You say you hate wigs although you wear them - me too - the first thing I do when I get home is take off my wig & my shoes!!!
Keep in touch, all the best, Diana x
