I was diagnosed with alopecia at the age of 20 and have been trying to deal with it for the past 6 years. Everyday as hard as the last but some how I wake up every morning put on a wig and a smile and go!!!! I have great family and friends that are here to support me but I am thankful for them everyday.
Hi Danielle,
I'm glad I could help.
I reccomend you seek out a support group and meet others going through what you are. it is a very emotional and inspiring experience.
I just joined facebook yesterday.
It is a pleasure to "meet" you! I read your story and think you are one strong inspiring beautiful woman! I also had my first spot at age 20! Fortunately I have not lost all my hair- but often wonder if and fear that will happen. (currently have multiple spots)
Even now with just spots my mother will look at them- and tears will run down her face. She always says " If I could trade places with you I would in heartbeat just to spare you any sadness" It's a helpless feeling for our mom's to love us so much and not be able to change anything! But how lucky we are to have them love us so much! :)
my two year old nephews kisses them (calls them hair- boo boos) - I figure if that doesn't heal them nothing will!
I think Jeffrey's idea to join a support group is a good idea- any in your area?
