Hell Silly Valerie! I love your picture! You are an incredible artist!
My 5 year son Owen has alopecia universalis. We are doing a fundraiser for the Children's Alopecia Project in September. I have been searching high and low for an artist to help me capture Owen's spirit. Then I stumbled upon your page!
I want to create some t-shirts for the event with Owen playing different sports. (baseball, soccer, hockey)
Are you for hire? Thank you! Nancy

Sad to hear about the root canals...
I will try to upload the flyer for the fundraiser. Hope it works!!

    Hey Valerie
Thanks for the beautiful things you wrote to me. I hope I am doing right by my kids. I would be so proud if they were to grow up knowing that the gift wrap is just the shiny disposable stuff that hides the special package. The only difference between us Alopecians and the rest of the world is that we have no gift wrap - we ARE the package :-) In a way, it is a gift, because we don't get to rely on outside appearances when we present ourselves to the world, so as a result we HAVE to live more authentically.
Your kids now, as grown-ups, will look at you and see the amazing, strong, beautiful woman who brought them up. How can they not?

I am so glad that you are losing the shame - it is such an unnecessary burden to have carried all these years.

Adore your spirit and I feel honoured to have 'met' you.
    xoxo

    Hi Valerie,
Thanks for your kind words about Courtney ~~ she truly has a beautiful kindred spirit. In her words, 'God gave me alopecia to help other kids like me.' He has great plans for this young lady - truly!
