Hello, i have been diagnosed with hashimotos thyroiditis and told i have alopecia as a result. I have been losing my hair since 2006 and it has become increasingly worse this year. I feel alone, ashamed and embarrassed. I am depressed and dont feel like doing the things i used to do. I am looking for support from people who understand.
Hi Nicolle, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us.
Hello and welcome, Nicolle!
I know how hard hair loss is. I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has a lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf."
Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.

Well, I had alopecia areata for about ten years and it just kept getting worse and worse. Then finally all the hair everywhere fell out and I have never had any regrowth. It's really easier to have it all gone everywhere than chasing the patches. And I don't have to shave my legs!
