I'm 29 years old and live in Kent, OH. I have an American mother and an Indian father. I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and have only been to India once back when I was 5. I don't remember much unfortunately :-P I'm currently pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science while working in an IT tech support position at Kent State University. My Bachelors was in Management and Information Systems.
I started out with Alopecia when I was 7 years old. It started as areata, but then progressed to totalis in my pre teen years. It eventually became universalis not long after that. I have had patchy hair regrowth at times, but nothing real substantial. Whatever regrows usually doesn't last very long anyway, heh!
I've never really given a community like this a serious try before. I've known two others in my personal life here who also have alopecia, but I'm interested in getting to know others too. I'd like to hear their stories and how they have learned to cope/grow with it. Sadly, my self esteem was impacted more than i like admitting by this illness as a teenager due to the way kids and some adults reacted towards me. Some of it I still work through at times, but overall I have a much better opinion of myself. I don't let it affect me the way i used to. I've also had wonderful support from friends, family, and my church.
Feel free to message me if i sound interesting to you. I'm a very laid back, genuine person. I look forward to getting to know other members on this site :-)

hellloooo :) you should definitely consider getting a wig.. they are amazing! i get my wigs from mandeville in London, and i've been going there since i was 5. i am their youngest and longest customer! they are absolutely wonderful people and have there own specialised hairdresser who is able to do pretty much whatever hairstyle you'd like... they have plenty of choice for colour and lengths. They are made from real hair therefore look just like i have a full head of hair, except i dont ;) http://www.mandeville-wigs.co.uk/index.shtml
