I am a hairdresser that has been living with alopecia since 2006. I live on the Central Coast of Ca with my partner Vanessa and our two dogs Mylo and Lola. I have lost all of my hair from my entire body. No lashes, no eyebrows... nothing. I now also suffer from depression and anxiety. Some days are better than others...
Hello and welcome, Lyndsey!
I'm sorry you are feeling depressed. I also have universalis -- I've had it for about 30 years. I even wrote a book about it -- so if you want some support, let me know.

Do you think it helps being a hairdresser? I get so mad that I can't do stuff on my own...because I feel like the only one who really knows how I want a wig cut or colored or whatever. Makes me want to go to hairdressing school!
Keep your chin up though. It's a daily struggle for most of us. It's nice to know people here can feel our pain because people who don't have alopecia could never possibly understand. So, make sure you read read read when you're feeling down!
I also suffer from extreme anxiety,it seems like a lot of us have that in common
stay strong i know how hard it can be.and remember there is a lot of people that are here to support you......
Hi Lyndsey,
My love you look gorgeous! You suit every style and color (lucky you!)
I understand your frustrations and pain, I too went through a phase where I was so depressed and very anxious but the first step is actually recognising that you are feeling this way and slowly you can rebuild your self confidence...I sound like a seasoned professional but I only actually just lost ALL of my hair (on top and below) this year. I've only bought synthetic wigs (from www.voguewigs.com) and I love them because I can change my style and color every day (or more :-))
You'll have to post a picture of the Raquel Welch wig because I wanted to buy one too and would love to see what it looks like!
Keep smiling darling,
xxx Lisa (from Australia)
