About Me:
Not sure what type I have. Female, age 50. Started noticing hair loss 4 years ago. Got worse in 2010. Now almost bald and have lost most of my eyebrows. Very little hair on the rest of my body too. This from someone who was always very hairy (runs in the family and no one else has had this problem). Blood pressure meds seem to have made the most drastic difference in hair.

    Dear Kim,

My heart goes out to you I know this is hard. I still remember by hair falling out almost 42 years ago when I was 5. If you and you husband has been married for a while he is probably just scared and men look on the outside 1st but if you are still the same I am sure that is all it is. You can still be sexy and pretty. Now they have a lot of wigs that are so much more than going to the K-Mart wig counter :) . Ace Wigs gives medical discounts also and are not too pricy. I don't sleep with a wig at night but a tuban thing to keep my head warm mainly. I know my boyfriend would prefer to wake up next to a woman with hair but he has me instead. It will just take time for your whole family. I am the only one out of ten kids in my family that has it. My daughter has beautiful hair and she is 23 now. Just keep you chin up and stay pretty inside and it will start showing on the outside. I will be here for you to talk to and maybe since you are close we can even meet some time. I like that Katy Mills Mall. I don't know what a wide band is? I got my eyebrows tattooed by this woman and it is wonderful. Now I don't look like an alien when I wake up and I don't rub off the silly things during the day.

Well I better get to work for now. Talk to you soon.

    Sincerely,
    Paula

Hi Kim, I hope you are doing good. My heart goes out to you too! I have found such tremendous help on here. My husband still won't give me much input about what he like as far as my new wigs, color, length and style etc... and I shaved what little I had left on my head late last summer. I still have ups and downs!!! I am having fun with different wigs, and have a couple that long. I have never had hair that was long or thick and my wig look pretty real, so I have been feeling somewhat better about myself. The compliments I get are a real lift!!! If you need to talk there are many of here you will listen!!! I am losing my right eyebrow, not sure what it is going to do??? And remember people/celeberties on TV have been helped with surgery, make-up, mink lashes and even extensions and wigs....so why shouldn't we be able to???

Kim, I just got back here after a few days away. Hang in there. And take your time, you'll know when and if you are ready to shave your head. If you have any kind of Alopecia support group you can attend, I highly recommend it! Mine is almost 2 hour away. I'm hoping to find another one a little closer, but will still keep involved in the Indy group. My husband & I went out for our anniversary dinner Wed. night and I got several compliments from people I didn't know about my "gorgeous hair" my husband seemed to enjoy the comments, hopefully your husband will come around with time. I have been wearing wigs for about 5 months and still can't get an affirmative on any wig.....other than "it looks nice" some men are well just men...lol My right eyebrow still hasn't made up it's mind either. I am looking for who will be doing the tatoos if this keeps up.
