Came from England to Brisbane about 5 years ago. I have had alopecia for 15 years and it has impacted on all areas of my life. I am at a stage where I want to move on and not feel ashamed any longer! Would love to have others with alopecia to talk to.
Its a great site for dealing with AA issues it has been really helpful to Pat and I we were really out there and alone when Pat first got AA but the internet and especially this site have enabled us to be in contact with others who have been kind enough to share with us. IE what we needed at that time we got and I sure you will too, sorry if it was a bit cryptic and my typing is that great either.
Yup type Brisbane or Queensland into the members area and you find them go to my friends list you will find Pat there add her she is really amazing has been so inspirational with how she dealt with her AA. She came out on facebook last month posted a pic of herself bald and friends we have had for 10 - 20 years were shocked. I am on the chat line if you want to talk and so is Pat. PS being ashamed is a very valid emotion to have don't feel your less of a person for doing so, that was the hardest part for me watching Pat deal with the embarrassment but she did and does AA is a tough gig its is hard being a bald woman in our society and don't let anyone tell you its only hair or it could be worse . We are available anytime to talk etc and Pat has scoured hair from around the world gets her wigs made in China did it all over the internet so like I said your in the right place. John
Hi there! I'm sure you'll find lots of support here it's a great site. I lived with the 'shame' of being bald for a long time and only recently have made a big change in my attitude towards others knowing about it and seeing me bald. It was a big move for me but everything takes time! I wear wigs and don't think I'll ever stop wearing them as I feel good with hair...but at the same time I don't want to always be in fear of people seeing my little bald head :) Glad to meet you...
