Hi,
How are you and Alyssa doing? Sometimes it's much harder for the parent than it is for the child.
I just wanted to welcome you and say hello!

Oh, I'm so sorry it's so hard on both of you.
It might help you to read my book -- "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" A lot of parents and kids have found it very helpful -- check it out on my page, and if you want to get it, you can click the link at the bottom, or go to Amazon.com.
Please keep me posted on things. I want to help...
Hi Alyssa and mom, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Cheryl, co-founder
Hello there Alyssamama. I know that it is hard, but you have to try very hard not to worry that your daughter will loose all of her hair. Just because she has lost a percentage of hair, does not mean that she will loose it all. Just as we do not know what will happen tomorrow, we do not know that our children will loose all of their hair. When my daughter was 8, we treated her with the cortiosteriod (spelling?) topical cream & Men's Roggaine. She was under the care of a professor of dermatology, and he told her that he would get her hair to grow back. It took seven months of applying both medications (each) twice a day. All of her hair grew back, and stayed for two years! Now, she & her brother each have about three spots each, about the size of a dime, if not smaller. They treat with the shots & Mens' Roggaine. Those shots keep the AA spots from growing larger ~ so far. Hair is growing back in almost all of the areas ~ very slowly, but it is growing back. Keep your chin up & stay strong for Alyssa!!
Hi Alyssa..I have a 6.5 yr old daughter with Alopecia. After 6 months of complete hair loss my daughter is starting to regrow with the help of treatment. We hope it stays and continues to grow. I know the initially diagnosis is a shock and it is hard to watch our kids lose their hair. We all have our good and bad days, but at the end of the day you see our child's bright smile and just love them. With your love and support your daughter will get through this. Feel free to email me anytime if you want to chat..This board is a great group of people. Cindy
hello there ,
my son is four , he got alopecia just before his third birthday, he had patches here and there by the time he was just over 3 1/2 he had lost all his hair, and not long after that his eyelashes and eyebrows, which thankfully came back earlier this year, he too had a full blood work with nothing found , we do not have alopecia in the family our specialist has advised he has less than a 5% chance of getting his hair back , he doesnt let it bother him,hes the best , I guess as parents no matter how much it hurts us,we have to be strong for our children, and let them know that it doesnt change the beautiful little people they are , my love to you
