I'm 26 and have been dealing with alopecia for 4 years. I've tried rogain and am currently trying laser therapy. It is growing new hair, but areas formerly not affected are shedding like crazy. I dont know what to do.
Hello and welcome, Andrea!
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my award-winning book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It has helped a lot of women! There is lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com. Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.

Andrea, you will have good days & harder ones, but remember no one can take away your smile, even when you don't want to, just do it, then you know you are going to be ok. Have a great day> Denise
Hey Andrea, how have you been/ Me, hanging in. Still find some days hard and others ok. 8 out of ten good days. so no too bad. For some reason January has been my hardest month yet. It will be 1 yr in April and I can't believe it. I kept thinking this is so not happening. it will just be there tomorrow when I wake up. But low & behold it is my future I guess. I love summer but not too excited about the heat. I sweat alot with the wigs and am not there yet to jsut go bald out in public. At home I do with my family, but that is it. anyway thanks for listening. Do you wear a wig? or just have bald patches? or what is your circumstances I would love to know it would help me understand this whole thing alot more. thanks again
Good day, Ya I hear you about the summer. It is not even a year for me. I am bald. I use to wear synthetic ones, don't worry I washed them myself, rinse in cool cool water and hang upside down to dry. They wash well. and look great after too. But the one in my pic is real hair. I have 2 of them the same. I wash in a large bowl, rinse , luke warm water (only real hair in luke warm water) then put conditioner on it, then rinse and put back on my head holder, and let dry usually 24 hrs. I can blow dry & curl if I want , but I don't cause I want them to last alone time as they were 300$ each. As for swimming, I swam last summer in the lake with friend s & fmaily and no one knew it was fake, it drys quick on your head sitting on the beach, and just the mesh is a littel damp. Then I would go in the trailer and put my dry other one on. I never bring them to someone to wash and casre for. they are pretty easy to do. My id badge for work looks like me except now i have bangs. they matche dme almost perfect to before. Hot yes, I do sweat, but I have gone in the bathroom and wiped my head off jsut ot cool down a little though. But it is what it is. have you ever been to a conference? like the one in june coming up? I am curious. let me know what you thought of it if you went. well have to go for now have a great day. takl to you soon. Denise
I lost all my hair when I was 10.I wore synthetic wigs for quite some time. But in 1989, I started wearing a vacuum piece and I still love it. They last 3 - 5 years and can be repaired.
I will be in Michigan the weekend of June 19th.
I am also attending the NAAF conference in Indianapolis.
