Joan -welcome to the family. With a very petite frame and head, I encountered the same problem regarding wigs. Hairdressers that market hairpieces can make some alterations and custom ones can be ordered, tailored for the head dimensions. Not knowing your budget or whether this is a temporary solution to hair loss, I don't want to confuse or frustrate you with information that does not apply to your situation; but, Medford should have someone who deals with wig suppliers. My first wig was from a Penneys salon that served many going through chemotherapy and this same hairdresser still cuts my very expensive custom-ordered vacuum wigs, a type of wig often worn by those who either shave their heads or have complete hair loss... and due to the cost, usually have what is considered at the time to be "permanent" extensive hair loss.
Joan, I understand your frustration with wigs! I had a terrible time finding anything that looked good. They all looked so fake.
For my human hair, I found a local place called Brenda Kay Hair Specialties. She works with people all over the country, even people in the movie industry go to her. I have two European virgin hair custom wigs by her. They are absolutely gorgeous, and a couple thousand dollars less than the wigs of the same type of hair that you find online like Follea. She guarantees satisfaction. You can contact her at 503-223-8092 and bkswildhair@comcast.net. She does a fabulous job cutting and styling as well.
I also have synthetic hair, which I use for when I'm traveling, working out at the gym and doing things that make me dirty or sweaty because synthetic is wash and wear. You don't want to wear your expensive, beautiful human hair wig when you know you are going to get dirty or wet. Anyway, I wear "Brandi" by Rene of Paris which looks just like my human hair wig. You can wigs at a big discount on the web site www.wigsalon.com. Rene of Paris and Noriko are my favorite lines. Very natural looking.
