About Me:
I have Alopecia areata ophiasis which is hard to treat but its also easier to hide. I found out I had it when I was 9. My doctors are now testing me for Lupus. I'm hoping it is just Alopecia. Right now in my life it is the worst its ever been. :( I still don't need to wear a wig but I have a feeling I will have to wear one soon. I like wearing wigs I'm just worried about what other people may think.
The good things in my life are my understanding husband and Family. I am a figure skating coach which I love! I also am a snowbroader which I do 2 to 3 days a week in the winter. I have my bachelors degree in graphic design and just starting taking acting classes.

Hi Elaine, thank for the add. We are practically neighbors.

  • Petra

Me too. Sometimes it just helps to know that there are others out there.

Welcome to my group, Elaine. I feel your pain. I, too, am worried about what people will think, and feel I will be wearing a wig full time soon, myself. Shedding has started again and what is hiding the hair loss is getting thinner and thinner. I know people at my relatively new job, one year, wonder why my hair is so thin, but don't say a word. Today, they were all talking "hair" talk, about styling and blow drying, etc. I only could sit and stare at my computer, and not join in the conversation. I felt so uncomfortable. At least you are in a colder climate. I am in heat and humidity.

impressed with your fitness know how hard it is to maintain a regime, have done marathons and weights since I was in my late 20 and now Pat and I are in our 60s the benefits show. You will never regret all the time and effort you are putting in now.
