I am in my late 20's. I have been loosing my hair for about 10 years. It is getting so bad, and I have scalp showing all over. I no longer feel attractive, and I stray away from going out. I even get embarrassed when I see people that I haven't seen for awhile because I am afraid that that is all they see. I don't even want to date because of this issue. I am afraid to but a wig because of embarasment.
Hello and welcome, Collen!
How are you doing today? I understand about dating. I'm single too, am completely bald and wear wigs all the time, and of course have to tell men eventually that I am bald! But now that I wrote a book about it, they usually know anyway.

Hi, I understand completely. I developed AA in May of this year and it was a complete shock. One day I had a full head of hair and the next I had a bald spot the size of a baseball. It was frightening and embarrassing. My brothers would tell me it didn't look too bad and I'd say "have you ever talked to someone when you have a big zit on your forehead" "you think that's all anyone would see" "try having a bald spot the size of a baseball and see how you feel". Then I discovered wigs. At first it was scary, the thought that everyone would know. People surprise you though and can be very supportive. One day I woke up and decided I was tired of hiding my problem. It was taking me over an hour to hide the spots, and I was tired. I wanted some more sleep. So, I bit the bullet and wore my wig to work. Everyone loved it. Go for it. you should enjoy life. Hair isn't everything. I was just sick of getting sicker taking medicines. I'd rather have my health than hair. If you're ever in Indy, I'd be happy to take you to my wig shop and help you find something that makes you feel good about yourself - and forget your troubles. Once you do, you'll have a ball. Take it from someone who knows.
The store that I purchase my wigs from is located in the heart of Castleton. The store is called Beauty 4 you, and it's only been opened a short time. It's off of 82nd Street in the shopping plaza across from Burlington Coat Factory.
If you want anyone to go with you, I'd be more than happy to. I work in the office park across the street from there.
Hi Colleen,
I'm 29 and from Fort Wayne, too, so if you need a friend who knows what you're going through, please feel free to message me some time and we can get together.
