I am a retired teacher, high school French & Spanish. For several years led an amateur Baroque Recorder trio. Have 8 autoimmune disorders, and too many other chronic issues, for which I am on more than a dozen daily prescriptions, some in multiple doses. But although my pharmacist has proof to the contrary, MUSIC has always been my drug of choice.
Diagnosed with FFA [Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia] in Aug. 2013, after losing 80% of my eyebrows and noticing odd, red, itchy, follicles around the edges of my face. Have been getting steroid injections, every 6 weeks, since diagnosis. Lost close to an inch of hairline at forehead, more at temples. But blessed/cursed with a low hairline at birth, and thick, wild, curly hair to begin with. So it has remained relatively easy to hide receding hairline. Currently happy to officially call myself 'highbrow" and able to cover my loss with mini-scarves and wide headbands, the collection of which brings bits of delight: retail therapy!
Thanks for your kind comments Anne. When I speak to my consultant I will mention these steroid injections, and see what he says. Bust day today at work, no time to chat just lovely to know you are there!!!
Thank you for your kind accepting words. Family are supportive to a point. Coping reasonably well at the moment. Work colleagues have not noticed hair loss ,but to me it seems very noticeable.
