You are absolutley right, love and support is the best treatment for Haley!
Regarding her eyelashes, you might try Latisse. It has regrown eyelashes on alopecia patients. You have to get a doctor's prescription and it costs about $100 for a supply that lasts about three months; insurance doesn't cover it, unfortunately. There are warnings about changes in eye color, but that hasn't happened to anyone; it only happened with "Lumigan" which is a much stronger medication that is used for another eye condition. Since her condition is recent, it may very well help her keep the eyelashes she has left and regrow the ones that have fallen out.

If Latisse doesn't work and she loses her eyelashes, it shouldn't cause any medical problems. I've been without eyelashes for about 30 years and I haven't had any problems.

The loss of eyelashes doesn't mean she will lose all the hair on her body. Alopecia is totally unpredictable and she might regrow all her hair; there is also a possibility that it will only partially grow back, only to fall out again, or it might never grow back. In my case, I first had spots, then patches that progressively got larger over about a ten year time period. Then my eyebrows, eyelashes and all body hair fell out and never grew back. But everyone is different, so your support and love will help her deal with whatever comes along.

You can ask me any questions -- I am here to help!

    Big hugs to you both.

my daughter isla has alopecia, she is now 5 and lost all her hair over about a month when she was 2 and a half, she was left with a few wisps all the way round, then after two months had nothing , also no eyebrows or eyelashes. It has not grown back, however she now has hair on her face and ears, all that tiny hairs you have on your skin, she didnt have but six or so months ago it came in. She is totally bald and rarely wears a wig her choice. She is confident and bubbly but does get upset when people call her names. She is starting primary school in august and is a little nervous how old is your child
