Single parent of 3 children oldest being 16 have Alopecia.
My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with Alopecia at the age of 12 when for 6 months she continued to loss more and more of hair. At first they thought it was caused by stress but after seeing several doctors and trying several treatment it was determined she had Alopecia universalis -- total loss of all body hair. She was devastated. i looked everyone for somewhere for us to turn for support, ideas, anything to show her she was not going through this alone.
Then in the Spring of 2012 we found an amazing group that jumped to help Taylor and we attended Alopeciapalooza 2012 in North Carolina. It was an amazing time for not only Taylor but for everyone that was there. It was FUN!!! This was the first occasion of Taylor walking around freely as herself and proud of her self with out a wig.
When we returned to Wisconsin everyday seemed to get better for her. She opened up to strangers about her condition and found herself a new friend here IN Fond du Lac, a teacher at her school had alopecia. Next thing I knew Taylor was coming home excited because her and her teacher took off their wigs together, then she shows up at mu work bald and colored on her head!!! It was the most beautiful sight Ive ever seen! SHE WALKED THE HOMECOMING PARADE BALD AND PROUD!!!!!
